Server & Storage Infrastructure
Dell Technologies
Dell Technologies builds enterprise data centre infrastructure: PowerEdge rack and tower servers, PowerStore and PowerVault storage, PowerSwitch networking and PowerProtect data protection appliances. Scout Outsource specifies, supplies, configures and supports it, including ProSupport contracts and APEX consumption.
- PowerEdge
- Storage
- SAN
Dell is the broadest single line in the data centre, which is exactly why it needs specifying rather than ordering. We size PowerEdge against the workload instead of the catalogue, pair it with the right storage tier, and put the support contract and refresh schedule in place at the same time, so a hardware cycle stops being a project you run from scratch each time.
What Dell Technologies does
- PowerEdge servers
- Rack and tower servers sized against the workload, with the processor, memory and drive configuration specified rather than taken from a standard build.
- PowerStore and PowerVault storage
- Primary and secondary storage with the capacity planning that stops the next refresh turning into a migration.
- PowerSwitch and PowerProtect
- Storage and data centre networking, plus purpose-built data protection appliances where backup needs to stay on site.
- APEX consumption
- Infrastructure as a subscription rather than a purchase, which moves the cost from capital to operating expenditure and removes the refresh cliff.
- ProSupport and lifecycle
- Support contracts, warranty tracking, asset management and planned refresh rather than reactive replacement.
Who Dell Technologies is for
Businesses refreshing ageing server or storage estates, organisations standardising on a single infrastructure line, and anyone weighing outright purchase against a consumption model.
Common questions
Should we choose Dell or Lenovo?
It depends on the workload, your existing estate and the support model you need. We carry both, so we specify against your requirement rather than against a single vendor line. We will tell you when they are genuinely equivalent and price should decide.
Can you supply Dell hardware as a service rather than a purchase?
Yes. Dell APEX lets you consume infrastructure on a subscription basis, which moves the cost from capital to operating expenditure and removes the refresh cliff at end of life.
Do you supply laptops, desktops or handsets?
No. The hardware we supply is data centre infrastructure: servers, storage, SAN and networking. End-user devices are not something we sell, though our IT helpdesk supports them and our endpoint security covers them whoever you bought them from.
